The festival, with Festival Internacional De Cine Austral as its Argentinian title, bestowed the award for best set design upon Milad Mansouri’s first directorial film production.
The film tells the story of porters who gamble their lives on the border for a piece of bread.
The late Ali Ansarian, an ex-footballer and actor who lost his life in a battle with COVID-19, is among the cast members of the flick.
Ansarian recently won a post-mortem award for his role in the film at the V.i.Z. Film Fest in Bulgaria.
Hossein Soleimani, Hossein Mehri, Deniz Motevasseli, Mahtab Servati, Ali Farasati, Artin Amjadi and Payam Ahmadinia make the rest cast members of the film.
‘Kulbarf’ is also the recipient of the best actor in a leading role, the best actor in a supporting role, the best film and best directing awards at the South America Awards (SAA) festival.
The flick has already been screened at a number of global events, including the Ishcia Global Film Festival in Italy, the San Francisco Iranian Film Festival in the US, the 2nd Human Environment Care Film Festival (HECFF) in Canada and the BZN International Film Festival in Germany.
‘Kulbarf’ has recently received the best director and best film awards at the 2021 Istanbul International Nartugan Film Festival (IINFF) in Turkey.
The Austral International Film Festival, based in the province of Córdoba, Argentina, “is proposed as a space for reflection for sustainable, socially and economically conscious audiovisual production,” writes the online submission platform of the event.
The event was held on December 4-11, 2021 while the winners were announced on February.
